Edge Mediatech Concludes 2026 Sim Racing Carnival in Singapore, Secures Cross-Border Esports MoUs
The 2026 Sim Racing Carnival officially concluded on October 10, following a two-day schedule aligned with the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix race week. The Sim Racing Carnival was organized by Singapore-based Edge Mediatech. The event took place at One Raffles Place Tower 1, located within the city’s central business district. By placing virtual digital tracks alongside the city's trendy urban nightscape, the event brought racing culture to the public in an approachable way.
History of The Sim Racing Carnival
This iteration marks the fifth consecutive year for the Sim Racing Carnival property. The event originally debuted in China in 2021 before relocating to Singapore in 2022 to align with the GPSS. The 2022 edition, hosted at Marina Bay Sands, featured former Formula 1 driver Alex Yoong and veteran broadcaster Steve Dawson, reporting a total audience reaching exceeding 10 million. Subsequent editions incorporated additional partners, including Alibaba Cloud as a co-host and the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union as a supporter in 2023. In the 2024 tournament, Indonesian driver Rama Maulana of Legion of Racers claimed the title against China’s Yin Zheng of E2C Club.
Supported by the Singapore Tourism Board and the Singapore Esports Association, the 2026 edition of the Sim Racing Carnival operated as an official part of the Grand Prix Season Singapore (GPSS), a wider city-wide initiative that ran from October 2 to October 11, 2026.
Cross-Border Industry Forums and Strategic MoUs
This carnival featured two days in different styles, extending from the professional digital racing arena to a live, offline carnival, fully demonstrating sim racing, with October 9 designated as Competition Forum Day. The Day focused on industry exchange, gathering esports and digital sports stakeholders to discuss the development of the sim racing sector, the logistics of landing international esports events, and the construction of digital track ecosystems.
During the forum, two formal memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed. The Singapore Esports Association (SGEA) and Edge Mediatech executed agreements with the E-sports Professional Committee of the China Cultural Industry Promotion Association. These strategic partnerships aim to establish a comprehensive international esports industry chain focused on bilateral Sino-Singapore exchanges, facilitating the reciprocal import and export of global digital sports events.

Showcasing Digital Talent: The Asian Sim Racing Invitational
Following the industry discussions at the Competition Forum Day, the event transitioned to the offline finals of the Asian Sim Racing Invitational. The tournament structure began with a pipeline of 30 qualifying matches, eventually advancing four drivers to the offline semi-finals: Qian Haolin, GAVIN, MALCOLM, and ADEN.
The competition utilized a one-on-one matchup format, contested on a custom digital track replicating Singapore's Orchard Road. In the semi-final brackets, Qian Haolin competed against ADEN, while GAVIN raced against MALCOLM. Qian Haolin and GAVIN advanced to the final round, where Qian Haolin secured the championship title, leaving GAVIN in the runner-up position.
The Speed Carnival Watch Night Took Place On October 10
The second day of the event on October 10 shifted to a format termed the Speed Carnival Watch Night. Day 2 of the Sim Racing Carnival 2026 schedule included public engagement activities such as accessible racing simulators, gymnastics, and live stage performances. The Carnival concluded with a live broadcast of the physical F1 Singapore Grand Prix race, accompanied by real-time analysis from professional Chinese esports commentators.
By positioning the event at One Raffles Place rather than a traditional, dedicated esports venue, the organizers applied a hybrid event model designed to capture mainstream commercial foot traffic and lower the barrier to entry for non-endemic audiences.
A Structured Entry Point For Non-Endemic Brands
The inclusion of the Sim Racing Carnival within the GPSS schedule reflects a broader industry strategy of integrating competitive gaming with established physical sporting events. The 2026 GPSS calendar, which also featured activations like Orchard Paddock and Porsche’s Raceborn Fest, incorporated multiple digital motorsport events. GPSS 2026 also included the first Southeast Asian round of the Gran Turismo World Series at Marina Bay Sands on October 3. Because sim racing requires physical inputs—such as steering, braking, and throttle control—that directly translate to specialist hardware, it maintains a closer connection to its real-world counterpart than many other esports titles. This alignment provides a structured entry point for non-endemic brands, allowing automotive and lifestyle companies to engage with the esports demographic alongside the traditional motorsport audience.
